Marà: the submerged wine

Lake Ceresio hosts an organic sparkling wine in its depths for twelve months.

Marà is an exciting Project launched by Azienda Agricola Bianchi. This organic sparkling wine has a very interesting story. The uniqueness of this wine resides on how it is aged. Not in the cellar, as one might think – and where wines are usually kept while maturing. The bottles of Marà wine are, in fact, sunken into Lake Lugano at a depth of 22 meters below the Surface, where they sit patiently for a year before going back to the surface to finally be able to be tasted. This type of wine maturation is definitely unusual and original for the Canton of Ticino.

The Project, exceptionally conceived by the Bianchi brothers, was immediately a great success. Many wine lovers and curious were attracted by the singularity of this wine, and eager to taste them. As a result, these bottles that rest for a year in the depths of the water are sold out from the very date of its release.

The passion shared by Gabriele and Martino Bianchi did led them to a great result with this experimentation. Their innovative approach rewarded them with a high quality conceptual wine: Marà.
