Reviving traditions with new ideas

For Martin Wolfer it was clear early on that he wanted to set accents with Pinot Noir - his greatest passion at Wolfer Winery, where 60% of the vines are Pinot Noir.

They are especially proud of the Pinot Noir Grand Vin. With this wine, Wolfers won the World Championship title - and became a member of the "Mémoire des Vins Suisses". Swiss wineries are represented in this association - members deliver 60 bottles of their best wine per year, which are stored in a common treasure chamber. The aim is to show the ageing potential of Swiss wines - and to make trade journalists and interested members of the public marvel and enjoy vertical tastings.

Martin Wolfer was already thinking about how to improve Pinot Noir during his apprenticeship as a winemaker. His father and uncle let him bring in his personal signature. Martin Wolfer planted new Pinot Noir vines to realise his ideas. It is a story that is very close to his heart and makes him happy to be able to produce this wine and to receive important awards such as the Mémoire des Vins Suisses.
