Valais, Switzerland
The Domaine des Fils Maye and its vinothèque Le VerreMaye are located in Riddes in Valais. Les Fils Maye own 30 hectares of vineyards including the famous Clos de Balavaud. Among their many grape varieties, Amigne and Johannisberg enjoy the sunshine of the right bank of the Rhône. On the left bank, the vineyards from Riddes to Charrat offer Fendant, Pinot Noir and Gamay. The vintages are made in the respect of tradition, without any artifice.
In 1889, the Les Fils Maye winery was connected to the railway line that passed through Riddes. Afterwards, there was a lot of expansion work. The more we dug, the more labyrinthine it became. So it grew in height. Now the cellar is five storeys high.
