Schmidweine is a family business with around 6 hectares of vines. All wines are pressed in the winery's new cellar, which was built in 2013 in Schlattingen. The premises of the winery include several tank rooms and a bottling plant. There is also a barrique cellar, which was completed in 2019. In addition to the production of their own wine, the family around Thomas Schmid also does contract winemaking. The family business supplies to a large extent to private customers. In addition, there are partnerships with gastronomic businesses in the surrounding area.

Schmidweine is basically a classic self-cultivating winery, as there are some in the area. Nevertheless, the winery stands out with its solar system on the roof. Thanks to state-of-the-art technology and a 30 kW photovoltaic system, all wines can be produced using solar power.
