Gewürztraminer

Weingut Rütihof Gewürztraminer

Beguiling and seductive as a rose: Known from South Tyrol and Alsace, Gewürztraminer is often pressed with residual sweetness. We love it dry and spare no effort to get the best out of the vine in view of the demanding cultivation: a rich wine with a characteristic fragrance, unique aroma intensity and minerality. More

The name of this precocious grape variety reveals much about its aromas. It is often used to make full-bodied wines with notes of lychee, kumquat, passion fruit and rose. As one of the oldest and highest quality wine varieties worldwide, many international winegrowers from countries such as Australia, New Zealand or South Africa also cultivate Gewürztraminer. But don't be fooled: often the wine's low acidity gives the impression of it being sweeter than it really is.
